Kamala Harris' Cornbread Dressing

Sauté pan
Large baking dish (2 quarts worked well)
Ingredients

8-oz packages
Cornbread mix
1
lb
Spicy pork sausage
a little
Olive oil or coconut oil
2
Onions, chopped
2
Apples, cored and chopped
4
Celery stalks, diced
3/4
cup
Chicken broth
1/4
cup
Unsalted butter, melted
1/4
cup
Fresh parsley, chopped
2
tsp
Sage
1/2
tsp
Thyme
1/2
tsp
Rosemary
to taste
Salt
to taste

Instructions
Bake your cornbread mix according to the instructions on the package. This can be done the day before.
Once the cornbread is cooled, crumble it.
Take the sausage out of its casing, crumble it, and brown it in a little oil.
Once the sausage is cooked, use a slotted spoon to remove it from the pan. Set it aside.
Sauté the vegetables and apples in the remaining oil in the same pan.
In a large bowl, mix the cornbread crumbs, cooked sauge, sauteed vegetables and apples, melted butter, herbs, and chicken broth.
Put the mixture in a large baking dish.
Bake at 375 degrees F for about 40 minutes.
Notes
Note the first instruction to make the cornbread a day ahead so it has time to cool. Very important step!
