Although i’m still currently addicted to my Aloha plant-based protein bars, I always keep my eye open for new, tasty ways to get more protein easily into my day. In the last few months, my trainer has mentioned more than once about her love of Built protein bars and that she even gives them to her kids after sports games.
If Built protein bars are good enough for her, a woman who looks incredible, has a great heart, and has taught me so much about properly lifting weights, then I thought I’d give it a try too. So I looked into Built bars.

It started in December when Built was having a special holiday promotion where you could buy a tin of an assortment of 12 Built bars. I figured that was a great way to try a variety of flavors without having to buy multiple boxes of 12.
And, TBH I don’t remember all the flavors that came in it but I wanted the holiday peppermint granola bar.
I was a fan of some flavors, and not of others. But overall, I was happy with my purchase. An unexpected finding: the box included a few Built Puffs… maybe it came in the tin or on the side as a sample, I’m not sure. But the Puffs are very different than the regular Built bars.
After trying each of the flavors, and then making a few more purchases, here’s my overall thoughts on Built protein bars:
- Great flavors, especially for me, a chocoholic!
- +15g of protein
- 4-8g of sugar
- ~140-160 calories
- Gluten free (Although I’m not GF, I like to note when it is for others)
- 100% real chocolate
- The Puffs are YUM!
Well, to put it bluntly, I’m hooked. More specifically, I’m hooked on the Puffs, which are light and airy. They don’t taste as dense as a regular protein bar.
In my head, it’s similar to eating a candy bar, but obviously it’s better since it is a high protein, low sugar snack. It’s been great for when I’m on the go or to give my kids for after sports.
In particular, the Cookie Dough is my favorite, but they’re currently out of stock, so I have been enjoying the Built Brownie Batter Puffs and Coconut Marshmallow Puffs flavors (pictured below).
Note: my trainer likes to put hers in the freezer. I haven’t tried it myself, but worth a try if that appeals to you!
