Have you heard of Daily Harvest before? I looked into them back when I was looking at food box subscriptions and settled on Freshly single-portioned meals. But I’ve been a Freshly subscriber for so long that I decided to give Daily Harvest a try.
I bought 9 items for $44, using a first-time buyer promo code (scroll down to the bottom for the code). The 9 items were:
- 1 Cacao Nibs
- 2 Harvest Bakes
- 2 Harvest Bowls
- 2 Chia Bowls
- 2 Oat Bowls
The Daily Harvest box arrived quickly and was well insulated.
Even though most Daily Harvest promotions are about their cups of fruit and mix-ins for smoothies, I didn’t get any of those because I’m still loving my Oats Overnight for breakfast. And, I need a quiet breakfast because I eat it and work out before the family wakes up. A blender wouldn’t jive with that.
What I really needed were quick, healthy, delicious meals for lunch or a filling snack.
It’s good I’m still working from home since the meals required a bit more work than my microwave Freshly meals.
The two Harvest Bake dishes required time in the oven, which wasn’t a big deal as long as I prepared ahead of time. The Gigante Bean + Artichoke Olio was my favorite. It literally tasted like I was eating spinach and artichoke dip, which I love, but might not be for everyone.
The two Harvest Bowls were also a little time-consuming in that I had to cook them on the stove. So, definitely not something I could’ve made at the office, but it didn’t require a lot of steps to cook. Both were delicious.
Although all four lunch foods were delicious, my favorite Daily Harvest item was the Cacao Nib and Vanilla Bites. Although there were only 7 bites in the cup, they were a very delicious post-dinner treat. Eaten frozen, they were cold and tasty, but portioned and flavorful. Highly recommended!
Since I wanted to try a variety of Daily Harvest foods, I chose a few bowls that looked like they could be delicious, quick (and quiet) breakfast options.
The two Oats Bowls were a nice step above instant oats. I chose to microwave mine (although they did have a stovetop option) and used milk as directed. So the oats were thicker than I’m used to, but warm and full of flavor. They were both very filling as well.
I did buy two chia bowls to see if those could be a good, quick breakfast alternate. I was really excited about it; however, I ate a few bites of the first one and could not stomach more. It was not my jam. The second one is actually still in the freezer… I’ll eat it one day….
Overall, I really enjoyed most of the foods I ordered from Daily Harvest. With the exception of the chia bowls, I would definitely buy Daily Harvest again. Perhaps not regularly without the promo code due to cost, but with the $25 off, it felt worth it.
The next time I buy from Daily Harvest, I’d focus on the lunch foods since that’s what I need: harvest bowls, harvest bakes, and of course a cacao nib and bites cup! Treat yourself, right?
Choosing the items was fun and easy. The delivery was great. Foods were delicious and filling. I felt like Daily Harvest makes an effort to provide unique, flavorful, and healthy meals.
