Baking with kids can be a challenge, but they love to be helpers in the kitchen! So when I came across this kid-friendly pretzel treat recipe, I figured why not try it. It’s been a fun family activity every holiday ever since!
It’s not really baking so it’s hard to mess up, and it’s so simple but they can be really involved. These pretzel buttons are extremely easy and SO TASTY.
The longest part is waiting for the kids to unwrap all of the kisses. The hardest part is catching them after they lick chocolate off their hands, making sure they wash their hands before they touch more.
You can make them with any flavor of Hershey’s kisses and choose specifically colored M&Ms for a holiday flare.
Note: These also go over well at holiday parties.
How to Make Pretzel Button Treats
To make the Pretzel Buttons, you need three ingredients: Hershey’s Kisses, milk chocolate M&Ms and mini pretzels.
Step 1: Lay out the pretzels in a single layer on a baking sheet.
Step 2: Unwrap your Hershey’s kisses and place one on each pretzel.
In the photo above, we used Hershey’s birthday cake kisses and Hershey’s hugs, but you can use whatever kisses you’d like.
Step 3: Put the baking sheet in the oven for ~3 minutes at 275 degrees.
Note: The kisses with “stuff” in them, like Cookies n’ Creme kisses, take a minute or so longer to melt.
Step 4: Place an M&M in the center of each melted kiss. Press down (if needed).
Stay alert! The kids love this step, but watch closely if they lick any melted chocolate off their fingers before the pan is done!
Step 5: Put the completed treats into the fridge to cool off quickly.
Step 6: Eat, share, enjoy!
