Does anyone else hate chopping vegetables? It doesn’t take THAT long, but when I go to make chili or another meal that involves a lot of dicing, each bell pepper or onion really adds up. Over the years, I’ve literally bought at least 4 different chopping devices, but none were easy, quick, or thorough.
Then, I saw Mindy Kaling quickly dice vegetables on her Instagram page with this green dicing device. She pulled a string a few times and it was done. I was amazed.
Am I the only one that takes a while to chop my vegetables? I am not getting a restaurant job to food prep anytime soon, that’s for sure.
So I took a chance at my husband rolling his eyes at me buying yet another one of my chopping devices and purchased the Kuhn Rikon Pull Chop from Amazon.
This pull chopper is AMAZING! This is why….
As you can see in the image above, it only takes a few quick pulls of the food chopper handle before the vegetable is ready to go. Even though I still need to cut the vegetables so it can go into the device, this takes seconds compared to minutes.
While preparing vegetables for a dish recently, I did a little experiment to see how quickly different amounts of food took to dice in the Kuhn Rikon pull chopper. My non-scientific research:
- 1/2 bell pepper, cut into 5 pieces = 3 pulls
- 1/2 bell pepper, cut into 4 pieces = 3 pulls
- 1/2 bell pepper, cut into 3 pieces = 4 pulls
- 1/2 bell pepper, cut into 2 pieces = 6 pulls
- 1/10 bell pepper, in a single piece = 8 pulls
- 1/2 red onion, cut into 3 pieces = 3 pulls
- 1/2 red onion, cut into 4 parts = 4 pulls
Oddly, the smaller the amount in the chopper, the more pulls it seems to take to dice. So load it up! But not too much – an entire bell pepper resulted in me not being able to pull the cord at all.
Beyond the time saving, the best part: I was able to dice onions fast – my eyes didn’t have a chance to tear up!
It’s also only ~$39, which is much cheaper than other devices. And, it’s quite small so doesn’t take up as much space in your cupboard as a food processor.

Tip: when cleaning off the lid, don’t run it under water. The lid is cloth wipe only. I got water inside of my lid and had to take the lid apart to let it dry. The container and blade are dishwasher safe.
