I’ve come across a lot of new meal delivery services lately but this one caught my attention. Perhaps it’s the no-effort cooking or the thought of a warm savory pie for dinner on a chilly Autumn night, but I had to give Southern Baked Pie Co. pies a try! #momistrying
They have sweet and savory pies, breakfast quiches or dessert pies. As much as I love a good apple pie, my eye was on the dinner pies. Anything to alleviate the evening rush to get dinner on the table!
What I liked about Southern Baked pies:
- The pie flavors are fairly standard. I wasn’t wondering what a Chicken Pot Pie was or if I’d like it.
- Pies arrive frozen.
- Pies are kept frozen until baking.
- Pies bake from frozen (no defrosting).
- They offer gluten free options.
- The pies were large enough to feed my family of 5.
- I chose the ship date to ensure we’d be home to receive the pies.
Overall, this looked like pretty low effort and the potential for great-tasting dinners.
Cost of their full-size pies are about $40 each, but they do have some bundles of 4 small pies for $45. A bit more expensive than what I’d expect to pay for a pie, but it’s cheaper than buying dinner out for my family.
Other than the cost, the only other slight downside was the longer cooking time and that you had to be around to turn down the temperature. Seriously, not a big enough obstacle to deter me from trying it.
I decided to try the Southern Supper Box, which provided 3 dinner pies for $124.95 ($42 each). Shipping was free with a first-time buyer code.
Southern Baked Pies Co. Review
The pies I selected in my Southern Supper Box were: 1) Pot Roast pie, 2) Chicken Pot pie, and 3) Chicken Ranchero pie.
All three pies were DELICIOUS. The adults loved them, the kids loved the Pot Roast pie and Chicken Pot Pie (there were NO LEFTOVERS!), but they were not a huge fan of the Chicken Ranchero. They may have been “pied out” by then?
But these were SO EASY to make. The hardest part was remembering early enough to pre-heat the oven. Luckily, working from home makes it possible to get these pies started 90 minutes in advance of dinnertime.
My only minor “complaint” was that I needed to supplement with veggies to make me feel better about all the carbs in these pies. I was too scared to look for nutrition information, but there’s no way these are healthy. Adding a large side of veggies helped round out the dinner; microwave steamer to the rescue!
Would I buy from Southern Baked Pie Co. again?
Absolutely! In fact, I’m adding items to the cart as I’m navigating their website for this blog post! Now that I don’t have any more pies in the freezer, I need to order more. Plus add a gluten-free quiche or dessert pie to have on hand for the holidays!
I might just wait for their next email letting me know it’s free shipping.
I’m also thinking of adding their Pie of the Month club to my Christmas wishlist! But of course, due to the likely high calories of these dishes, I don’t know if these should become a monthly item in my house.

Cannot find nutrition info anywhere. That is really annoying.

Agreed that nutrition information is important. If it’s not on their website, you could probably ask their customer service for that information.
