I first heard about Thrive Market when I did the Whole30 challenge, but I refrained from signing up since you can’t actually see what’s available in the market until you’re a subscriber. But, months went by and I kept wondering if it was worth it so I decided to try it out, knowing I could always cancel.
I took the plunge and became a Thrive Market subscriber with a 1-year subscription.
After receiving a few boxes now, I have a better handle on the market, its products and how the subscription works. Below is my review of Thrive Market from a subscriber’s perspective.

CONS
- You can’t see what’s available in the Thrive Market before you’re a subscriber.
- You have to pay for access to discounts, so you’ll need to use it frequently enough to make the subscription worth it.
- The autoship cart versus regular cart are a bit confusing at first.
- I still haven’t figured out how you can just shop all products instead of picking by category, so I can’t get a good handle on everything offered.
PROS
- The market interface is easy to filter based on your preferences (organic, gluten-free, vegan, paleo, etc.)
- Using autoship gets you an even bigger discount than the listed price (I think 10%).
- Items on Thrive Market really are cheaper than my regular grocery store. Usually by at least a dollar or two.
- Free shipping with orders of +$49.
- You can mark items as a favorite for quicker future shopping.
- The products in the box arrive very well packaged.
- Thrive Market is good about sending reminders to make sure you know when a selected item is back in stock, a favorite item is on sale, or your autoship cart is about to ship.
- Thrive Market regularly has deals on items or gives you a free item with regular shopping cart purchase.
- For every item, they have nutrition facts and ingredients listed so you don’t have to rely on product photos and zoom features.
- Autoship cart items can be set for every 4 weeks, 8 weeks or 12 weeks.
- It’s easy to change the autoship cart ship date for the entire cart or by individual items.
- New items keep getting added all the time, so I’ve discovered new products!
- USAA members can activate MemberShop rewards and get 20% cash back.
- Thrive Market really offers a breadth of products from regular groceries to makeup and laundry or cleaning products.
My Regular Thrive Market Products
Since you’re not able to shop Thrive Market before becoming a subscriber, below are some examples of products I purchase on autoship with corresponding costs if from a regular grocery store.

- Aloha Protein Bars, box of 12 bars: $24.29 Thrive vs. $30.00 store
- Primal Kitchen Unsweetened Ketchup bottle: $4.94 Thrive vs. $6.49 store
- Alaffia Everyday Bubble Bath, 32 oz. bottle: $10.79 Thrive vs. $14.99 store

- gimMe Seaweed, pack of 6: $5.49 Thrive vs. $6.39 store
Note: Costs always change, but these product prices are as of publish date.
You’ll see that the savings varies by item; however, it’s nice to have the added convenience of these items sent to me regularly every 4, 8 or 12 months too.

How I use Thrive Market
I use my Thrive Market groceries to supplement my regular grocery store purchases, not replace them. How I use it:
- I only purchase items that don’t need to be frozen or refrigerated.
- When I am out of items but don’t need them right away, I add them to my Thrive Market shopping cart via the app.
- My autoship cart stays populated with frequent purchases.
- Before my next autoship cart sends, I look at what’s shipping to delay products I don’t need, move items I need from my Thrive cart and add products from my regular grocery cart app (if it’s cheaper, which it almost always is).
Once I figured out a method that worked for me, I really started to love Thrive Market. I never have an issue getting over the $49 limit, so shipping is always free. Yay!

I highly suggest getting a Thrive Market subscription and trying it out for yourself. You can always cancel if you don’t think it’s something you’ll need, but in the end, I’m really glad I tried it!
