When the coronavirus pandemic started, so did my horrible face acne. Between masks and stress, my face really started to break out – it made me slightly glad I could hide in my house or cover up my acne with a mask.
My dermatologist gave me some skincare products and rounds of medication (pills, not topical) that made me sick or didn’t work. Then, I discovered DIME Beauty.
Below is a review of my experience with DIME Beauty skincare products: The Works bundle and Blue Facial Oil.

Pre-COVID, I saw promotions for DIME Beauty products but didn’t think much of them. But when my dermatologist’s recommendations didn’t help, she suggested I stop everything, let my skin calm down and start over with simple products.
I noticed DIME Beauty products were non-toxic and didn’t have those chemicals or hormone disruptors like a lot of other skincare lines. So, I decided to give them a try.
How I Use DIME Beauty
First of all, I read their website descriptions and watched the tutorial videos to figure this out. But, I purchased The Works package, which covers both my morning and night routine.
Each morning, I apply the following products, in this order:
- Gentle Jelly Cleanser
- Super Skin Toner
- Hyper Glow Serum (1-2 drops)
- Dewy Day Cream (1 pump)
If it’s a particularly hot day, I skip or go very light on the cream because is it very moisturizing.
Then, I apply my daily SPF, makeup, etc.
At night, the skincare routine is very similar, but with a different serum and cream:
- Gentle Jelly Cleanser
- Super Skin Toner
- Hyaluronic Acid Serum (1 drop)
- Restorative Night Cream (1 pump)
Starting a few days before my period until it ends, I apply 1-2 drops of the Blue Facial Oil around my acne-prone areas.
It took a few weeks at least for my skin to adjust, but my skin is significantly better. It’s rare now that I have large-scale breakouts. The Blue Facial Oil has a distinct smell to it, but it’s been a good addition to my routine.
When I got a facial at the Hershey Hotel Spa, the esthetician hadn’t heard of DIME Beauty before, but she looked up the products and was very complimentary about their ingredients and my routine. Woohoo!
To sum up my review of these DIME Beauty skincare products:
PROS
- Non-toxic ingredients: no parabens, sulfates, formaldehyde, aluminum, etc.
- There’s no guesswork in how to use the products and in what order.
- Their support team is responsive and helpful.
- Free shipping for orders over $50. Is it just me that refuses to buy items from anywhere that you have to pay for shipping?
- Sustainable packaging (recyclable cardboard box + glass bottles).
- Vegan and cruelty-free.
- During my quarterly facials, there have been fewer extractions each time. Phew!
- I feel so good about these products that I’ve used them on my oldest child’s face when needed.
CONS
- The bottles are glass. Although I haven’t personally experienced it, I’ve read of people dropping the bottles accidentally and the bottles shattering.
- The bottles don’t travel well. The toner leaked despite how tight I made it and the cream tops pop off even with rubber bands; luckily, my skincare products were all in a plastic bag.
- I had one pump that didn’t pump, but their support team was responsive and helped me resolve the issue quickly.
- Altogether, it can get costly (The Works bundle is $146 + Blue Facial Oil is $38). But buy it using my first-time purchase discount and during a special to save money. Plus, the products last for months.
- The Blue Facial Oil is a little smelly. My kids have asked, “what’s that smell?” a few times.
The cost was my initial deterrent from purchasing, but I’m really glad I tried DIME Beauty anyway. My skin looks and feels better, plus, I feel better about the products I’m putting on my body. When I’m older, I know I’ll appreciate the extra money I put into my skincare routine now.
Overall, I’m hooked on DIME Beauty products now. In conjunction with getting regular facials, these products have really calmed down my skin and keep it healthy.
Now I just have to figure out how to get rid of the old scarring! Any tips?
