You all know that I am really loving my Yes.Fit virtual races. However, I could not get this I Run 4 Movement virtual race out of my head: Save the Chubby Mermaids 5k or 10k. How adorable to think of manatees as chubby mermaids!
With every run sign-up, I Run 4 Movement donates to Save the Manatees. And, the t-shirt and medal colors were my childhood favorite: teal and purple. I just had to try this race!
Note: The shirt color is a bit off in this photo due to lighting. Scroll down to see the more accurate color.
How does this virtual race work?
After you join a RunSignUp I Run 4 Movement virtual 5K, they send you your selected shirt, medal and race bib in the mail immediately. Then, you complete your race at your leisure. Run or walk, on a treadmill or outside, it doesn’t matter, just finish it.
You don’t report your completion time so honestly, you could not even finish it but what fun is that?
Come on, you need to help Save the Chubby Mermaids too, so get moving!
I finished the Save the Chubby Mermaids 5K!
This weekend, it was ~10 degrees cooler than it’s been lately and cloudy so I decided I was just going to get this race done. It’s definitely not a moisture-wicking t-shirt but I LOVE the design. The material is so soft!
Yes, I choose my virtual races based on t-shirts, medals and race names. Whatever motivates you is good, right?
During the race, I wore my new FlipBelt. It’s basically a stretchy cloth band you put around your waist to hold items so your hands are free. It holds my iPhone snugly but not too tight. When I run, my phone feels secure and doesn’t bounce. Plus, I can put other items in there like my ID or headphones when not in use. I’m loving my FlipBelt! Highly recommended!
I lightened the photo so you can see it a bit but I got the grey color “Carbon” so it wouldn’t clash with my exercise clothes. Ha! For size reference, my FlipBelt is a medium.

Hi there-I realize this post is old but I’m digging deep for an answer that I can not find. Hoping you can help me find the answer.
I see all over the internet that irun4movement donates to charities-even mentions several. The issue? I can’t find the legitimacy of this. They themselves give a vague answer. Do you happen to know how much if any are actually donated?

Hi, Honestly I have no clue. Perhaps try reaching out to them directly to ask? I guess I’m just taking their word for it, hoping they were a good, honest company. If you do find out more information, please post back!

I am also wondering if this is a legit organization. I love Manatees but I also don’t want to get scammed or have my money go into someone’s pocket.
