My kids have a birthday every year (duh!). Plus, we get invited to multiple birthday parties (what feels like every month). Why is it that when it’s time to plan my kid’s birthday, I have a hard time thinking of the options beyond the few we’ve been to recently.
Is that just me?
I’ve been keeping a list of kids birthday party location ideas mostly to help me remember ideas when I need them, but also perhaps there’s another parent out there that needs some ideas too.
Remember the days of meeting at a McDonald’s or Wendy’s for a birthday party and then playing on their playscape, and that’s it? Is that still OK or did Pinterest parties ruin that?
Here’s what I have so far in my ideas list:
- Gymnastics or indoor sports complex
- Fire house
- Local park or playground
- Rock climbing
- Trampoline park
- Movie theater
- Indoor bounce house
- Hair + nail salon (specific to little kids)
- Art or painting party
- Taekwondo / Karate
- Boat ride or Pirate ship
- Laser tag
- Ice skating or roller skating
- Lego house or Lego land store
- Pool party
- Putt putt golf
- Chuck E. Cheese, Arcade or Dave & Busters
- Local museum
- Tea party
- Farm animals or pony ride party
- Local Festival
- Drive-in Movie
- Beach
- Dance studio
- Whole Foods cooking class
Of course, some of these items are location-specific, but maybe it will spark an idea of a similar place near you too.
Many of these places have a room you could rent out or a birthday party package. Or in some cases, (like a park), you can just show up, set up some tables and let the kids run amock.
There is always the option of having the party at my house, but I’m all about not getting my house trashed by a ton of young kids. Maybe when they’re at 5-10 kids for a sleepover age.
What about you; do you have any additional kid’s birthday party location ideas? Do you have any favorite types of places you’ve been to for a birthday party, your kid or another? If so, comment below to add it to the list!
