Are you Facebook targeted by monthly flower subscription services as well? Or does my browsing history somehow indicate that beautiful, fresh flowers make my day?
I’ve always ignored the ads because buying flowers is an extra luxury that as a mom, I don’t think to gift myself. Then, my work kindly gave us each a gift card last holiday season. Rather than spend it on my kids or buying school supplies off teachers’ Amazon lists (#fillthelist) like I did the last times, a close friend implored me to spend it on myself.
As a mom, how often do you think of yourself first? Are you asking, “What does that even mean?” Yeah, I did too. She was right. I should my something for myself with my own Christmas money.
I didn’t want to buy a one-time purchase. I wanted something that would make me smile for months to come. I decided to buy flowers for myself. Not from the grocery store, because I’m fancy that way.
I researched a few online monthly flower delivery subscription services and settled on bouqs.com.
So why Bouqs?
- Their flowers offered a nice selection.
- It was easy to use.
- I could cancel at any time.
- I could skip a month if I decided to.
- I could change delivery dates as needed.
- I could change the delivery address and send to someone else if I wanted to.
- With a subscription, I get 30% off.
- Free shipping.
- Prices vary, but flower arrangements started at $36/month.
For $36? Sure, I’ll try it! At least for one month. Then we’ll see….
Set-up was really easy. I created an account, chose my first bouquet, wrote a nice motivating note to my future self, and done! Easy peasy.
My first bouq was white roses. Simple. Beautiful.
You guys, they lasted for SO LONG. I finally brought them home from work after 2 weeks and they still looked great!
My next bouq was a mix of sunflowers and purple flowers. Some of the flowers got a bit squished in transit, but the sunflowers had nets around them to keep their petals safe. Very thoughtful packaging.
The photo is from shortly after putting it in the vase so they weren’t fanned out as much. I took flowers out of the bouquet as they died, but the sunflowers and green stems lasted quite a while.
I really wanted to bring some sunshine inside to combat the Winter blues so I went back to roses. Bright yellow roses ๐
Once again, very vivid colors, beautiful. These ones were already fairly bloomed so they didn’t last AS long, but they were still very beautiful.
I don’t actually have a photo of my next “Sweetness” bouquet, which I received before Mother’s Day. However, these were the bouqs my husband sent me. <3 He also added on the bouqs.com signature vase ($10). Stunning red roses!
Unexpected bonus! This subscription was CLUTCH around Mother’s Day. Not only did they remind me to adjust my subscription by a certain date to guarantee delivery, but they let me double my bouq for free! AND, the reminders helped me schedule double flowers for my mom and mother-in-law before the last minute price hike for guaranteed delivery in time. #worthit
I may have very subtly sent my husband the information too. ๐ But you can really see the value of the doubled bouqs in the red roses photo!
Keep in mind that this Mother’s Day was in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic kickoff so all nearby florist shops were closed due to stay-at-home orders. Having an already vetted, online flowers delivery service made Mother’s Day so much easier.
Unfortunately the roses didn’t last as long as the other bouquet I received. However, they were beautiful while they were there. Of course, they still lasted like 2 weeks, but it’s shorter than I’m used to from previous months ๐
Finally, my most recent bouq was a white bouquet with lilies and roses. The lilies still haven’t bloomed yet, but they were so pretty, I had to take a photo!
I’ve used the special discount to send flowers to others too. It’s just so easy, cheaper and better quality than other companies I’ve researched.
Conclusion?
I’m glad I tried a monthly flower delivery! I love having a nice monthly treat for myself that doesn’t add calories to my diet or take time from my day. Plus, I’ve found the flowers make others smile too. They are a nice way to spread some cheer during a crazy workday and now at home during the coronavirus quarantine.
