There are many quarantine lists out there with masks, antibacterial this and disinfectant that; this is not one of those lists.
We’ve been quarantined for more than 4 months, working from home with three kids. These are the items I’ve actually needed and that have helped me survive being stuck indoors nearly 24/7.
Personal Care
- Sleep mask. For the precious times I get to nap during the day.
- Whole Foods grocery delivery. This has been a game-changer for us. I don’t need to worry about which direction to go in the store, whether or not others are wearing masks, etc. If you can swing the delivery fee, it’s worth it.
- Women’s electric shaver. Long showers are not an option. This electric razor has been awesome to shave last minute before we go outdoors for a walk, etc.
- Eyebrow hair electric trimmer. Since we can’t get eyebrows waxed right now, using a small electric hair trimmer helps me maintain my eyebrows. This razor isn’t the quickest, but it’s painless; much better than plucking!
- Large laundry basket. We stay indoors more but there is so much laundry! I don’t get it. But I did get a new 2-bushel laundry basket that makes life easier. Plus, it’s so pretty; anything that makes me smile while doing laundry is good, right? 🙂
- Sunscreen. So much sunscreen! Sunscreen is necessary for all of our walks and trips to the park, etc.
Digital Escape
- Beachbody On Demand. Having 700+ workout programs that I can do from home? Yes please! 21 Day Fix, Barre Blend, LIIFT4, P90X, 80 Day Obsession, Core De Force– it’s all there for whenever I have time to press “play!”
- Audible books. Whether it’s from our library’s app or off audible, listening to audiobooks helps me get out of the house mentally. I listen to books while on stroller walks, while folding the laundry or making dinner. It’s not curling up with a good book but it’s a close second and I’ve had some great adventures the past few months.
Note: #IMOMSOHARD. In the few minutes I have to actually sit down with a book, #IMOMSOHARD is great for some quick laughs and lightening the mood after watching the news.
Working from Home
- Standing Desk. I brought home my VariDesk from work. When I am holding the baby for hours to sleep, being able to elevate my desk and keep working has been awesome. Even when sitting, the elevated top helps keep me from hunching over.
Note: If you do get a standing desk, I highly recommend the anti-fatigue comfort floor mat. It makes a HUGE difference in how long you can stand in one place. - Old Navy tops. I need cute enough tops for video chat, but comfortable and flexible enough for breastfeeding and working from home. Old Navy’s women’s tops are cute, comfortable, summer-appropriate and cheap enough that I don’t feel bad about buying multiple.
- Oats Overnight. I make my breakfast at night in 2 minutes. In the morning, I grab it from the fridge and go. Once I got over the idea of drinking oatmeal, this breakfast is my easy, tasty go-to. My momentary favorite is Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Cacao Crunch, but there are a lot of tasty options.
Bonus: They say oatmeal helps with milk production if you’re breastfeeding, so woot woot!
For items we “need” quickly (non-perishables, crafts, legos, etc.), I order through the Target app and you can select “Drive Up” store pick-up. After I place the order, the items are ready in a few hours, we drive up, they bring the items to our car. Easy peasy!
It is sad not to be able to go into a store and actually shop, but with the current coronavirus pandemic, I don’t want to chance my family’s safety.
I hope you all are staying safe and my coronavirus list above helps you get through your quarantine too! What’s helped you get through the quarantine? Comment below, I’d love to know!
