It’s almost the end of the school year!
I really wanted a way to give my kids’ teachers a fun, thoughtful gift beyond a gift card to show my appreciation for how awesome they are. So I came up with an idea for an end-of-year gift that I’m hoping was a bit unique.
My inspiration was a meme that said, “Orange you glad it’s summer?”
A few years go, I realized that teachers must have so much STUFF from students: coffee mugs, candles, tumblers, etc., so I aimed for a gift that was entirely consumables. And, nothing personalized in case they wanted to give it away.
I didn’t even look at Pinterest. I just kept it simple — everything was going to be orange.
But not all orange flavored because that was limiting, and what if they don’t like the taste?
I bought a pack of orange gift bags from Amazon, and paired it with some orange tissue paper I already had.
I perused a grocery store for the color orange and this is what I put together:
In the bag, I put a greeting card along with:
- Cheddar Goldfish
- Burt’s Bees Chapstick
- Peanut Butter Clif Bar
- Cup of mandarin oranges
- Tony’s Chocoloney Chocolate Bar
- Orange Starburst
- Pamplemousse La Croix
- Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
- Orange Trident Gum
- Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Hand Soap
Many of these items are my favorites, so I know if I had gotten this as a gift, it would’ve made my day!
Usually, I also provide a gift receipt, but since I broke apart some packages to put this together, that wasn’t realistic.
We also contributed money to the class gift, but I thought this would be a fun treat for each of the teachers. And, we certainly would use any of the leftover starbursts, orange cups, clif bars, etc.
What do you think — was I able to pull off the “Orange you glad it’s summer” theme?
Did you give something to your kid’s teacher for the end of the school year? If so, what was it? I’d love to hear about it; comment below!
