Am I the only that looks at Father’s Day gift idea lists and don’t see ANYTHING that will work for my husband or dad? When he’s not THAT into craft beer, jerky, Yeti, coffee, fishing, beard kits or trendy clothes, and you can’t get another mug, tie, watch or pair of socks, what’s left? I can’t do Man Crates again!
Don’t worry, I’ve been keeping a list of gift ideas! Gifts for dads who love baseball, love to play games, who are active, appreciate tech-y gifts.
Below are some Father’s Day gift ideas for the non-stereotypical dad. Some might be practical, fun and maybe a little selfish gifts (if he owns it, I get to use it too right?), but hopefully you might find something below that the dad in your life might love too.
Note: I haven’t personally used all of these items below, but I’ve purchased many of them as gifts and/or they have great reviews!
Gifts for Dads Who Love Baseball
I have to start with this one because we’re a baseball family. Football season? Pssht. It’s all about baseball.
Major League Baseball Ballpark Destination Map. Even if you’re partial to one baseball team, true baseball fans will enjoy going to different ballparks for the love of the game. The dad in your life can keep track of all the parks he’s been to and still needs to visit with this MLB ballparks map.
Johnnie-O Sully 1/4 Zip Pullover. Yes, it is hot outside right now, but for cooler nights or playoff season, this pullover is perfect. Both my dad and husband have one and it’s great quality. They have a microfleece or cotton version, and what looks to be all the teams, but I highly suggest the Red Sox!
Dads Who Loves to Play Games
Different from a gamer (video games), if the dad in your life enjoys playing games with the kids or friends, here are a few he might enjoy.
Ticket to Ride board game. I have to put this on here because my husband LOVES this game. However, he also loves trains. The family quality time while the kids practice their geography, strategy and math skills make this game worth it. Read my full review on Ticket to Ride»
Kan Jam Disc Toss game. This game has 7,000+ reviews, seems simple enough that kids can play too. Not a lot of set-up required and looks like it can really be played anywhere and with anyone.
Spikeball game set. We actually purchased this for my nephew’s birthday because my husband was so pumped about this game. Another game that looks easy to pack up and play anywhere with or without the kids. I imagine with certain adults, this game can get pretty interesting!
Gifts for Active Dads
Bowflex SelectTech Dumbbells. Now that at-home exercise equipment is returning to stores, I highly suggest snagging a pair of these dumbbells. They adjust from 5 lbs to 52.5 lbs so while expensive, they’re the only dumbbells he’ll need! There are a ton of options out there, but these are literally the ones I’ve had for years and use regularly.
Noxgear Tracer360 running vest. Help the active dad in your life stay safe when it’s dark outside with this reflective and illuminated vest. Especially as the days get shorter or he wants to go out running in the cooler mornings, these vests can help you have some peace of mind that he’ll be seen, especially when he’s running with a kid in a stroller!
Goodr running sunglasses. I JUST posted about these sunglasses last week, but they’re on this list because I’m still so shocked at how well they stay in place while running. And, there are a bunch of color and style options to choose from! View all Goodr running sunglasses »
Hemlock Hat Co. straw hat. Maybe it’s because I’m so used to being inside all day or being a soccer mom is getting to me but baseball hats aren’t cutting it anymore when you’re outside for hours at the field, by the pool or on a boat. I just bought one of these for myself and am excited for it to arrive. Dad might appreciate the full head and neck coverage too.
Tech-y Gifts for Dad
I feel like tech gifts can be really personal, but there are a few that the dad in your life might appreciate. If not these items specifically, a version of them.
Apple AirPod case cover. If dad has AirPods, then getting him a silicone case cover with carabiner clip can help him keep his AirPods intact. With so many colors and versions out there, you should be able to find one that suits his style. If he doesn’t have Apple AirPods yet, you can get him some of those too!
Chili Cube Cooling and Heating Mattress Pad. If the dad in your life always runs too hot or too cold, you can help him sleep better with this Chili mattress pad. I have heard pretty awesome reviews of these, but have yet to take the plunge just yet. I just turn down the A/C, which I’m sure my husband loves!
Wood Docking Station and Nightstand Organizer. The docking station I bought has cleaned up my nightstand and now I feel like everyone should have one! This one is super nice, but there are so many options out there if dad needs his electronics and valuables tidied up and easily accessible.
Selfish Gifts “for Dad”
I say selfish gifts because these are things I’m thinking that if you buy it for a dad that you live with, you can take advantage of these too.
Smart Plugs. If you have an Alexa or Google Home, you can benefit from smart plugs. Turn the lights on when you have a kid and 10 bags in your hands or turn off the TV without needing to find the remote. With 20,000+ 5-star ratings, it has to be good!
Ninja Air Fryer. I want an air fryer so much but am afraid to take the plunge and find out I don’t use it enough to justify the cost. BUT, I imagine if you buy this as a Father’s Day gift with the promise that you’ll use it to cook healthy French fries and other goodies, then the burden to use it isn’t on you, right? Wishful thinking?
Audible Gift Card. While I highly recommend getting dad the “Extreme Ownership” book, mostly because it was really good, I also know that books are so personal. Gifting dad an audible gift card will allow him to pick the book he wants and enjoys. And, these can always be emailed if distance is a factor, followed up with a list of potential books you think he might like.
Pizza stone. OK, dad probably doesn’t really want a pizza stone. But again, if you promise it’ll mean more pizza for dinner, then perhaps he’ll be all about it? This is another one of those items I’ve wanted to buy myself for forever but can’t justify replacing the pizza pan. But I hear these make even frozen pizza taste much better. That’s a win-win for everyone!
I hope one of the items above helps you in your quest to find the dad(s) in your life a Father’s Day gift you think might suit him well.
