Always on a journey to try new things to uncover tips or tricks that make my life easier or happier, I’m sharing my round-up of recent findings. Everything listed below I’ve tried, loved, and recommend if it suits your fancy.
“The Invisible Woman” by Erika Robuck. This isn’t a typical book for me, but I read it for a group book club. To be honest, I was nervous to read a book set during WWII– who needs to be more depressed these days? But this book was GRIPPING, well-written, intense but also hopeful. And, its main character is a strong female who has been through and goes through more than I could ever imagine. I could not put this one down and was sad that it ended. The best part is, it’s based on a a real WWII female spy, Virginia Hall!
“I am Enough” Priority Planner. Rachel Hollis has been very helpful to me these past few months. Her books always hit home, but after taking her online course, I bought this priority planner and it’s really helped me to focus on making the most of each day while prioritizing my self-care.
Knitted fingerless gloves. During the workday, it gets cold in the house, but I know I can’t crank up the heat without increasing the heating bill. Inspired by Outlander, I bought these $8 fingerless gloves and they’ve been so helpful. I can type and use my mouse while having an extra bit of warmth on my hands.
Vanilla Comoro tea. To keep from snacking despite being so close to my kitchen all day, every day, I’ve taken to making tea. One happy finding from Target was Harney & Sons’ Vanilla Comoro tea ($6), which tastes like marshmallows to me. Drinking this decaf tea feels indulgent yet I’m literally drinking flavored hot water.
After the last few recommendations, can you tell I’ve been cold this winter?
Edible cookie dough. While I really do try to be healthy, I haven’t been able to kick the “treat yourself” mindset altogether. But if I’m going to treat myself, the calories better be worth it. This edible cookie dough is delicious! While this cookie dough has never made it near the oven in my house, I’m sure the baked cookies would taste good too.
“Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win” by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin is my newest read, but it’s really interesting. Beyond the stories of life as a seal during training or on deployment, it weaves in everyday life and business insights that surprisingly are applicable. Plus, I’m listening to this one on audiobook and Jocko and Leif’s voices are so passionate and command attention. It’s been a real pleasant surprise.
Bird feeder. Working from home near a window, I’m able to see outside all day long. So, I bought a bird feeder! Not only does it help feed the birds, but it gives me something to look at periodically to keep my eyes off the computer screen. Seeing the birds brings a smile to my face and reminds me that I’m lucky to be alive, healthy, warm and working from home. Always a good reminder.
Note: If you decide to buy a birdhouse, these bird feeder hanger garden stakes worked really well for me!
Weighted ropeless jump rope. I never heard of indoor jump ropes before a few weeks ago, but a new program I’m trying uses them every workout so I bought a highly rated, $15 pair off Amazon. They feel awkward at first but I now I feel like I’m a kid at recess again. Plus, they do the job to help get your heart rate up!
It’s hard to get a photo of them in-use, but this was one of my best shots….
Zyia leggings. “Oh no, not another online clothing party,” I thought when I got invited to a Zyia Facebook party. I was so burned from LuLaRoe (most of my items purchased didn’t fit well; womp womp) that I was incredibly hesitant to try Zyia. However, I was sick of my workout pants slowly falling down as I ran. Zyia Light n Tight leggings (as seen in pic above) stay in place through jumping and running! Yay!
Note: I can’t link to the leggings since you can only get leggings through an independent consultant. But if you’re interested, message me and I’ll send you to the one I purchased through.
U.S. Coast Guard 5K run. I branched out from my usual Yes.Fit virtual runs to join the Coast Guard 5k, in honor of my Coastie parents and friends. Also, the medal and t-shirt are pretty cool looking and let’s be honest, that’s why I choose a virtual race at this point. #coastguardrun
If you want to join in the fun, you must register for the virtual U.S. Coast Guard 5K run by March 31, 2021. There’s a 10% off military discount with code “CG10” at checkout. I completed my race already while wearing my new Zyia leggings and decked out for St. Patrick’s Day because why not?
I may have gone a little overboard with my green ombre Olive and June nails recently to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and the coming of Spring, but it makes me happy so who cares. Plus, I love getting to use more than one color at a time. Life isn’t boring so why should my nails be? Learn more about Olive and June nailpolish.
Interested in joining me this weekend for the Yes.fit St. Patrick’s Day 5k? Virtually of course. As you can see above, I already got my t-shirt, but I’d love to have a buddy join in the fun! Comment below if you’re running it too!
Is there anything above that you want to try too? Or, is there anything you’ve tried recently that you want to share? Please comment below and let me know, I am always open to trying new products, recipes or tricks to make life a little happier or easier!

I am definitely going to have to try the Vanilla Comoro tea. Tasting marshmallows without the calories is a win in my book!

Oh yay! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
