Have you heard about the Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer Hot Air Brush yet? It has been on my wishlist for at least a year but I didn’t see the point in buying it. I felt good about my haircare routine and TBH, I love my Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer, so how could I justify getting something else?
Finally, the Revlon Hair Dryer Brush was on sale so I decided to go for it. If it really is that life-changing, I might as well try it, right?
After the shower, I wrapped my hair in my microfiber towel for about 20 minutes to soak up excess water. Then, I squeeze my hair one last time with the towel. It usually looks something like this….
Then, I pinned up 2/3 of my hair with a hair claw and got to drying.
After a few minutes, I learned to go down the hair slowly with the longer brush side then roll the brush under so the shorter side catches the tips of my hair. See the photo above. This helped to curl the hair while drying.
I found it’s helpful to use my other hand on the brush to help with the roll since this hairdryer is a bit heavier than my round brush.
Once the bottom layer is dry, I took down another 1/3 of my hair. Then finally the remaining 1/3. And voila!
I really liked the result! Although I can’t take all of the credit, I have a talented hairstylist who gives me an amazing haircut. She also recommended that I use Kerastase Discipline Oleo-Relax Advanced Hair Oil, so that’s the only product I put on my damp hair before blowdrying.
Sidenote: I’m really loving my festive Olive & June nail polish this week, pictured above: OBJH (gold), CV (cherry red), BESTIES (green), KMC (light green), and HD (white).
Revlon Hair Dryer Brush Review
After using it literally twice, here are my thoughts on the Revlon hair dryer brush:
- At first, it was awkward to use but things got easier when I figured out how to use the tip at the top so my other hand could help turn it.
- The handle was larger and the hairdryer is heavier than my round brush so my hands were a bit tired by the end.
- I’m so used to a round brush in one hand and a hairdryer in the other that it felt almost too simple to use. So I checked some emails with my free hand.
- Drying time was about the same as with my regular hairdryer.
- The hairdryer only has a low or high heat setting that gets pretty hot so I couldn’t hold it for long near my head (as Revlon suggests for volumizing). When finished, my scalp was still a little damp. I need to figure that one out a bit more; perhaps use the cool setting there?
- Maybe it’s the lack of humidity or the Kerastase hair oil but my hair feels soooooo smooth and soft. Perhaps it’s those ions?
- Traveling with just this one hairdryer/brush would be super convenient.
Right now, the Revlon Hair Dryer Brush is $40 on Amazon. After trying it, I would definitely recommend anyone buy it as an everyday hairdryer – especially at that price!
It’d also make a great gift to yourself or someone else!
