When Jillian Harris came out with her own subscription box, the Jilly Box, I immediately was interested. Jillian Harris has such great taste, and I love her personality. I supported her through her Bachelorette journey and adore her Instagram, blog posts and more. She’s fabulous! The thought of getting a curated box of items she loves would be a perfect subscription box to try.
Unfortunately, Jilly boxes are hard to get. Why? Because they are all items from small businesses in Canada, which limits how many they sell. (They don’t disclose actual numbers that I’ve seen.) Jillian also really champions cruelty-free, sustainable and inclusive companies, many of which are women-owned and/or minority-owned. Hooray!
How do you get a Jilly Box?
To get a Jilly Box, you have to sign up for the lottery at Jillybox.com. If you’re chosen, you get an email that gives you a link to have the opportunity to purchase. To give more people an opportunity to purchase a Jilly Box, those who buy a Jilly box aren’t eligible to get one the next quarter.
Every quarter, I’ve signed up to purchase a Jilly Box but never had the chance. It felt like I was never going to have the option.
But one day at the start of my lunch break, I happened to check my inbox and see I got THE EMAIL to buy a Jilly Box. I had received it about 4 minutes prior which meant the size or selection I wanted should still be available! So I hopped right in and snagged mine quickly. I’m not going to lie, it was such a thrill to finally be chosen for the opportunity to purchase that I didn’t even think of how silly that sounds…. bravo Jilly Box company, the scarcity tactic worked well on me.
They do offer the opportunity to purchase some add-ons to your box as well. Luckily, I held strong and did not purchase more items, knowing I could likely get those later if I still wanted them. Phew, there’s a win for my credit card!
How much does the Jilly Box cost?
My Spring 2021 Jilly Box cost $199 CAD, which was about $164 U.S. dollars.
What’s in a Jilly Box?
I snagged the Spring 2021 Jilly Box, which included 7 items in this summer road trip-themed box:
- Sugarjoy candy box duo
- Zen bath & body oil
- TOK Beauty lash-enhancing mascara
- Pura Botanicals Overnight watermelon mask
- Samara makeup case
- Monika Hibbs Home “Road Trip” canvas tote bag
- Jardines Domaine “Jilly Road Trip Dress”
The box itself is beautiful and everything was well packaged, although my watermelon mask was slightly opened. Luckily because of the packaging, the mess was contained.
Jilly Box Spring 2021 Review
To start with, the Sugarjoy candy box duo was in a super cute pink, white and grey striped box, and of course, they were quite tasty. I never buy sour candy, but the watermelon and peach flavors were a nice touch. My family devoured them!
The Zen bath & body oil feels so good on the skin, but you can also use it in a bath. They gave us a 2 oz. bottle, but I imagine it will last quite some time because a little bit seems to go a long way. It’s not a scent I’d usually choose, but it is a nice, subtle smell. Also, I love that it is 100% natural oils.
I was really impressed by the TOK Beauty lash-enhancing mascara. I have a mascara that I love, so far, the brush on this one really defines my lashes and makes them look quite long without being clumpy. And, it’s a natural formula! I rarely wear makeup since I’m working from home, but I look forward to putting this one to the test more.
I’m using the Pura Botanicals Overnight watermelon mask sparingly since I’m not sure if it will make my face breakout. However, it does make the skin very hydrated and smells great! I also love that this is certified organic and I’ve never used an overnight mask before, so I’m hoping it will become a part of my nighttime routine.
The Jilly x Samara makeup case is made of white vegan leather. Beautiful and spacious… and white. If I take this on one trip or put any makeup in it, it will be scratched up and looking dingy in no time. So, it’s been sitting in my Jilly Box ever since. Maybe I’ll use it to store my hair accessories? I’m not sure.
The Monika Hibbs Home “Road Trip” canvas tote bag, similar to the makeup case, is fun and white. Well, canvas white, but still white. It’s very spacious and feels sturdy, which makes it perfect for a beach bag or something you don’t need to close at the top. However, I am so hesitant to use this because it will get dirty and gross stat. So this has also been sitting in my Jilly Box unused.
The Jardines Domaine “Jilly Road Trip Dress” threw me for a loop. When I was ordering the box, I immediately picked the Vineyard Green because I knew wearing a white dress around young kids would be a bad idea. Then, the size measurements were so crazy that I thought perhaps Canadians use a different measurement system. I googled. It’s inches. From the photos, I knew it was meant to be oversized so I went with a Medium (size 6-8) and crossed my fingers.
Unfortunately, the Jilly Road Trip dress is twice my size. It’s HUGE! I know this isn’t returnable but I did reach out to Jardines Domaine to see if I could exchange it for perhaps an XS, and they said no. It’s so unfortunate because it’s a cute style, but I doubt I’ll ever wear it.
So if you’re keeping track, I liked 4 out of 7 items. Probably the largest, most notable items in the box didn’t work well for me.
Is the Jilly Box worth it?
Honestly, unless you have expendable income then the Jilly Box is not worth the money. Yes, it was exciting to get THE EMAIL to purchase and so fun to receive and unpack the beautiful Jilly Box; however, this is mostly about having fun and trying new things that you may or may not love. Although, that’s my thoughts on all of these subscription/experience boxes, which is why I rarely get one.
Am I glad I bought one? Absolutely. They are thoughtful, beautiful or smell/taste great. If I was to try out a subscription box for this much money, I’m glad it’s on Jillian-approved items. With that said, I’m not really sure what to do with the dress, tote bag and makeup bag. Does anyone want to buy my items?
Most, if not all of the items in a Jilly Box are available on The Jilly Box Market after the boxes have shipped. So if you want a box but haven’t been chosen, you can likely get any desired items on the Market! Or just go to the stores themselves. Even though the prices of these items are somewhat high, one or two items will likely be cheaper than the box itself.
Have you looked into or purchased a Jilly Box? Are you on the wait list but still haven’t gotten a chance to purchase? Have you ever heard of Jillian Harris before? Comment below, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the Jilly Box!

Reminds me of being a child again and looking forward to Santa Claus coming to fill my stocking. Jillian is an astute business woman getting rich from people who need a pick me up.. Good for her but buyer beware. I chose to spend my $200.00 on exactly what I want… not riding on someone else’s idea of what I should have.or like. Sheesh.
