I’m not a huge fan of celebrating Hallmark holidays. Perhaps it’s because I’ve only ever had one really great Valentine’s Day, but also because it feels so forced. I don’t want to make someone buy me anything but also loathe telling someone exactly what I want so it’s not a surprise.
Now that I’m a mom, for Valentine’s Day I often just ask for not having to cook dinner and some flowers. Now that I buy my own flowers, even asking for those seem superfluous.
But, I love looking at the Valentine’s Day gift lists and deals to see if there’s anything to add to my list of future gifts to buy for myself. And this year, I’ve found so many exciting ones that I just had to share.
Tried and True Gifts for Mom
I say “tried and true” because these are things I own and love. If you bought these for the special mom in your life, I’m hoping she’d love these too.
UGG Women’s Slippers. Now that we’re home nearly 24/7, I wear my slippers all the time. They’re warm, cushiony, and soft. I love these! There are 9 different colors to choose from.
Revlon Hair Dryer Brush. This hot-ticket item is receiving praise from every person I know that has it. It’s a huge time saver for me and feels like a real treat, considering I already have a hairdryer. Read my full review of the hairdryer brush »

Lou & Grey Heart Terry Sweatshirt. In the last few months, I’ve become a fan of cute, fun sweatshirts that are cozy but still presentable enough that I look like I tried. You know, for a Zoom work call. I love the days when I wear this adorable sweatshirt since I don’t feel like such a “mom” in it. Plus, hearts!

For sizing, my hearts sweatshirt is a medium. It’s roomy but not too big. I have a few other Lou & Grey sweatshirts in small too (like their Signature Softblend Sweatshirt), but the smaller size is still relaxed fit in the torso.

“You are a Badass” by Jen Sincero. Because sometimes, moms deserve to remember that they are awesome. After reading it and loving it, I’ve bought this book for friends along with a few other little motivational items (socks, mug, card with a lovely note). Sometimes, moms need to feel empowered and inspired too.
Shockproof Wireless AirPods Case. If mom has AirPods, a protective shockproof silicone case with a carabiner clip is cute, fun and useful. Its one of those things I didn’t know I needed until I had it. There are 42 colors of this one, so you can match mom’s personality. Pair with some Apple AirPods if you want to really “wow” her.
Bath bombs gift set. I got these as a gift and they are super fun, a good variety, and smell great. Also, check out that gift packaging! They’re made with natural ingredients and don’t stain your tub. #winning If mom would appreciate a nice bath soak, she will love this for 12 baths worth!
You’re My Lobster mug. Is this mom you’re buying a gift for your super best friend and/or your romantic partner? And, is she a huge fan of FRIENDS? If so, you don’t need to understand this mug but she will LOVE IT. One side is a lobster drawing and the other says “You’re My Lobster” just like Ross was Rachel’s lobster. <3 It’s really thick, dishwasher safe, and can go in the microwave. I love it for hot tea!
Olive and June Nail polish. While there are tons of colors to choose from, their selection of pinks and reds are perfect colors for Valentine’s Day. See my Valentine’s Day colors in the photo above.
While you can buy individual polishes, let the experts choose for you with their sets, called “looks.” For Valentine’s Day, I suggest the Mani Party Set of pinks with sparkly gold, or the Cherry Bomb Set of white to red ombre. Don’t forget the dry drops and nail primer!

Side note: I really thought XOXO was going to be HOT pink, but it’s a really nice bright strawberry pink. It’s my new favorite!
Thoughtful Valentine’s Day Gifts
I’ve stayed away from chocolate, wine and flowers because sometimes, moms just want something she won’t buy for herself. Sure, you can benefit from these too, but think about what SHE likes.
Cast Iron Dutch Oven. Does mom cook? I keep reading recipes that require a dutch oven but don’t own one… yet. Using this BEAUTIFUL red-colored dutch oven to make warm food on a cold Winter’s night just feels perfect.
Sherpa/Fleece Heated Electric Throw Blanket. Is mom always cold? Yes there are other colors but, this beautiful red blanket caught my eye. I’ve recently posted praise for my new heated mattress pad, but I might have to treat myself to this blanket too. Cuddling up on the couch under this blanket to watch a movie sounds cozy. And, it might save on the heating bill too!
Motivational & fun flamingo mug. I don’t drink coffee, but I came across this mug and just smiled. It’s SO fun, I might buy it just to sit on my dresser and put brushes in or something. Anything that will help mom smile and be reminded that she is fabulous is always a win. Plus, it’s microwavable and dishwasher safe because nobody wants to handwash dishes.
Letter Board with photo collage frame. This is just so unique. You can make the message personal, sweet, fun and then each frame include a photo with mom in it! Moms want to be in photos and a part of the memories, but often they’re the ones taking the picture. A photo gift can help her feel SEEN!
Homesick Scented State Candle. Does mom love candles? Maybe you can’t be with her on Valentine’s Day, but send her the scent of a state she loves is a sweet personal touch.
Kate Spade Jewelry for Mom
Jewelry is so so personal, but if you are looking to get something that I think is sweet and tasteful, below are some options for you. You can’t go wrong with Kate Spade in my opinion.
Kate Spade Love Me Knot stud earrings. Hearts with a nautical twist? Adorbs! And these have small little gems on the end. They’re not so big they’re heavy but big enough to be noticeable. Really sweet.
I have other Kate Spade knot jewelry that I wear regularly but I have my eye on these.
Kate Spade Gold-Tone Alphabet Pendant Necklace. I have one of these in gold and one in silver. They are one of my go-to everyday necklaces. Buy mom a letter that’s meaningful to her such as her baby’s first initial.
Note: I’m wearing one of mine in the photo above with my tango red Lou and Grey sweatshirt.
Hopefully among all of the options listed above, you found something you like for yourself or a gift for that special mom in your life.
What would you love to get for Valentine’s Day? Or perhaps just to treat yourself one random day in February? I’d love to hear your thoughts, comment below.

It’s always so hard to know what to buy for Valentines Day beyond the traditional gifts of chocolate and flowers. The hearts sweatshirt is especially cute. Thanks for the great ideas!

Oh yay!! I’m glad this post helped you find something that you like!

My Lobster mug makes me smile every morning! Such a great reminder of the amazing gifter, especially when we can’t see each other! And you are so right that mom wants to be in the photos! Most of the photos I have with my kids are selfies taken from awkward angles. And I bit the bullet and bought a Dutch oven this holiday season. We’ve loved using it!

Oh Yay!! That’s wonderful!! Thanks for your feedback. I might have to treat myself to a Dutch oven soon too. There are so many delicious recipes out there that use one.

I’m so happy to hear you found a few things you love 🙂 Olive & June has so many great colors, I find it hard to pick just one to wear. Luckily, ombre is in style!
