Did your July 4th weekend fly by too? Overall, we had a really fun weekend. Highlights included getting to see friends, spend time outdoors in the BEAUTIFUL weather. Fireworks, boat rides, good food, fun nails, completed virtual races and more. I’ve detailed a few of my favorite highlights from this weekend below.
Red, White & Blueberry Trifle
I haven’t made it in years, but I’m so glad pinned the Red, White & Blueberry Trifle recipe because it’s so easy to make but delicious! It might not be really pretty to look at (I’m not a chef!), but I bought a pre-made angel food cake, which made this recipe practically foolproof. It was a hit!
I used my Pampered Chef glass batter bowl because it had a lid and was more substantial for transport than my trifle dish.
Patriotic Nails
My daughter and I got a little festive with our nails this weekend. We investigated my Olive and June stash and she picked red (CV), white (HD) and dark blue (HJ) polish for my nails. She kept it simple with some star nail art stickers, also from Olive and June. Learn more about Olive & June nail polish »
Yes.Fit July 4th Virtual Race
Saturday morning was 10 degrees cooler than it usually has been so I finished breakfast, got dressed and started running before I could procrastinate. I actually ended up running 3.3 miles because I wasn’t paying attention. Whoops!
For the “Let Freedom Ring” July 4th virtual race, I purchased the red, white and blue headband as my reward instead of the medal or t-shirt. I’ve found the workout headbands from Yes.Fit actually stay in place!
Plus, I was so excited to wear my ‘Merica t-shirt. It’s been on my Amazon wishlist for years, and I finally decided to try it out. It’s such a beautiful red color, and I felt wicked festive wearing it for this run! For reference, I’m wearing a size small.
Yes.Fit Kennebunkport Challenge: 6.6 Miles
I also recently completed running the Yes.Fit Kennebunkport 6.6 miles challenge (from 2 different runs combined) and received my medal just in time for the weekend. Honestly, I just did it for the medal. Who loves lobster and Maine? This New England girl!
I love that Yes.Fit includes motivational quote cards with each package you receive. They’re so simple but make such a difference. I have them strategically placed around my house in case I need some extra motivation.

Hemlock Straw Hat
We’re spending so much time outdoors this summer that a regular baseball hat is just not sufficient. My Hemlock straw hat felt enormous at first, but it’s become a staple summer item.
While tailgating before the fireworks, the kids kept taking the hat to wear it too. It was just too cute!
There are a lot of pattern options for the bottom, but I chose the Bermuda pattern and love it.
Maybe it’s because we’ve stayed inside so much the last year but Mother Nature has been so incredible lately. The flowers are blooming, hummingbirds are coming to the feeder, and anything by the water is picturesque. I’m trying to soak in all the beauty every chance I get, which feels so good for my body and mental health.
I hope you were also able to get out and celebrate. What are some of your favorite things to do for 4th of July festivities? Comment below, I’d love to hear about what you’re up to. Happy birthday America!
