I’ve posted multiple times about my love of Olive and June’s nail polish. Their polish dries quickly compared to other polishes I’ve used, but I was still thrilled to try their new dry drops. Anything to save time is GREAT!
Would liquid drops really work better than that stinky aerosol spray they have in the salons? I was skeptical but thought I’d give it a try.
The instructions for Olive and June’s drop drops say: After top coat, apply 1-2 drops per nail.
Seems simple enough.

How I use the Dry Drops:
- Wait at least 3 to 5 minutes after the top coat.
- Apply dry drops to each nail. Usually, this takes 2-3 drops for me to make sure the nail is fully coated.
- Wait 3 to 5 minutes…. or more if I have time.
OK to start with, nails are not flat (whaaat?) and the dry drops are liquid. I never realized how hard it’d be to aim properly so it coats my full nail with one drop.
Even trying to drop onto my daughter’s nails, I rarely could coat the nail in 1 drop, just due to my bad aim.
This is not a huge deal considering it’s just a few extra drops. But it does challenge my hand eye coordination!
I’ve used them a few times, some where I’ve been able to wait 15 minutes or more before really using my hands. I haven’t had any problems. Dry drops have been a win.
One night, I decided to really test how quickly they dry. Still very carefully, I tried to change into pajamas (getting ready for bed), about 5 minutes after applying the dry drops. All nails remained in-tact except my thumb….
One other time, more than an hour later, I noticed I had somehow nicked my index finger. Very small oopsie this time, though.
Please excuse the extreme close-up of my very dry nails and poor manicure skills, but the mess-up was so minor that I didn’t even fix it because #momlife.
BUT, I’ve also noticed that my self-manicures are lasting longer. For example, one day during my (almost regular) self-care time, using my Rachel Hollis “I am Enough” priority planner, I did my nails.
Despite the fact that I did my own manicure, I noticed 5 days later that it still looked pretty darn good!
The tip of my index finger had started to chip, and my cuticles were growing out, but it still looked decent!
Of course by day 6, it all fell apart, but if I had touched up the nails or used more topcoat, it probably could’ve lasted much longer.
Final Review of Dry Drops
Overall, I’m really happy with the dry drops. There have been literally two issues (noted above) with them. But I like that it gives my manicures some extra protection and helps them to last longer.
